Foundation of The Year Award 2014

LCCF are pleased to announce they have won The Foundation of The Year Award 2014 for the Championship. The award was handed out at the Championships awards evening.

Chris Rostron from the RFL had this to say about LCCF,

The Foundation has developed significantly in the last twelve months and is making a significant contribution to the development of Rugby League, the club and the town, through:- Primary school tag rugby league programme working with many schools throughout the area.
– Holiday activity camps.
– A secondary schools programme supporting and encouraging teachers to coach and enter teams into local competitions.
– Engaging a broader community through dance working from primary to the senior cheerleading squad. Leigh are participants in RL Cares “Join the Momentum” dance programme and supported a team of young dancers to travel to Wembley to perform at half time at this year’s Challenge Cup final.
– Strong partnerships with higher education and apprenticeships, qualifying young people as Rugby League coaches and future development officers for the sport.
– The club has also developed great ties with their past players association. They recently ran a very successful heritage day where a unique reference number was provided to all former players of the club. This outstanding project is a model of best practice which celebrates individual and club achievement, highlighting the club’s proud history and heritage.
LCCF would like to acknowledge the hard work done by the past players association in particular Jason Donohue and Mike Latham in gathering all the players information and generating the heritage numbers and having a successful day in August with a game designated to the heritage of the club.

Stuart Littler, manager of  LCCF was delighted with gaining the award ” We are honoured to accept this award on behalf of everyone connected with the LCCF. This award is a culmination of a lot of hard work from the many peolpe that have been involved over the last year. Rather than see this award as the end product wee see this as a building block to create a stronger, more inclusive community.”
